Participation, performativity and relational aesthetics are core ingredients behind THE BREAK / FAST, the on-going collective photo research project, initiated by Suzann Cheng. New neighbours, new acquaintance and new friends are invited to take 3 pictures during their breakfast with a rule of “3 First of the Day” : Food/ Face/ Place with the given single use camera. The camera will be circulated to another encounter person within the community to assemble the journey collectively.

“ Starting the Collective Photo Project of repetitivity of everyday life was came to my mind since I was away my home country, Hong Kong. I keen to explore the dialogic perception in repetitive routine and scenario: how people perform their identity through daily practice, and interested in the unspeakable intimacy that constructed between individuals in the global village. Like McLuhan had been addressed that technology is an extension of man, speedy technological developments are actually formed a invisible distances among us. We can know people and freely express ourselves in virtual, but why we are always too lazy knock our neighbour’s door and say ‘Good Morning’ ? " |
